The Australian Medical Association (WA) represents the interests of doctors across the WA health system. We advocate. We represent. We influence attitudes. And we steer change. On a more personal level, the AMA (WA) puts you – the doctor – first. Recognising that we are nothing without our members, we have introduced a suite of initiatives and benefits to show you how membership of the AMA (WA) represents more value than ever before.
We are excited to have you join the peak industry body for medical professionals. Welcome to the AMA (WA)!

We’ve made the difficult decision to adjust membership fees with this renewal, one we don’t take lightly. This change reflects rising operational costs and an increase in Federal AMA contributions, ensuring we can continue delivering the results that matter most: protecting your pay, conditions, and the future of our health system.
We’re building our presence across hospitals through a dedicated Industrial Organiser, amplifying members’ voices and ensuring fair outcomes are delivered on the ground. We’ve expanded our presence in the media and at government level, maintaining pressure that contributed to more than two billion dollars in health funding and further investment in critical infrastructure.
For the first time, we joined forces with three other health unions to keep ambulance ramping in the spotlight, and our Hospital Health Check achieved record participation, nearly 1,500 junior doctors, with no hospitals receiving an ‘F’ grade. We’ve also continued to invest in the wellbeing of the profession through our support of Doctors Health Advisory Service Western Australia (DHASWA), ensuring doctors have access to confidential care and support when they need it most.
We continue fighting for better working conditions and the rights of doctors and patients in WA. It’s only with your ongoing support that we can carry on this vital work.
The AMA (WA) has a team of industrial lawyers and advisors who can assist members with workplace queries. Examples include pay issues, overtime, leave, rosters, contracts, and more. Note the AMA (WA) does adhere to a Pre-Existing Policy – if your issue occurs prior to you becoming an AMA (WA) member, the IR team may not be in a position to provide assistance or may request 12 months of fees be back paid to move forward with the query.
How long will it take for the IR team to respond to my query?
The IR team endeavours to respond to all industrial queries within a 24-48 hour period. In times of high demand you will be advised if the response time may be longer.
Login to the member portal and click on the receipt icon. Once here you can put the dates you require in the date boxes and hit the orange receipt button. Note this can take a little time, please don’t refresh your screen. Once generated, a PDF receipt will pop up for you.
Please email membership@amawa.com.au advising of this and you will be sent a reset login link with instructions on what to do.
Email the membership team providing feedback in relation to your decision to close off your membership at membership@amawa.com.au. One of the team will then be in touch to provide assistance.

Whether you’re an employee, contractor or a practice owner, members can access expert industrial relations advice and representation.
